Introduction to GIS

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) has evolved into a spatial analysis tool that is more powerful than ever.
Introduction to GIS Workshop will introduce beginners, GISP's looking to supplement their skills, and even curious professionals with a basic foundation of GIS functionality.
This one-day course will cover basic concepts of GIS including data collection, editing, database design, basic cartographic principles, data sources, labeling, attribute editing, and ArcGIS Online among other related topics. In addition to the basic material, we will also discuss ArcGIS Pro and QGIS.

John M. Nolte, GISP

John has been in the geospatial field for 21 years, working with various versions of ESRI products from Arc/Info v5.0 to ArcGIS Pro. He was the GIS Coordinator for the Naval Weapons Station in Charleston, SC, a GIS Manager for the Geophysics division of Zapata Incorporated and now works as the Infrastructure Asset Management Lead for the City of Westminster. He builds maps and serves data to over 60 field operations staff using ArcGIS Online and other mobile solutions.
