RM-Urisa Scholarships 2019

The Rocky Mountain chapter of the Urban and Regional Information Systems Association (RM-URISA) is sponsoring a financial award for students using GIS in their studies.  Any undergraduate or graduate student attending school in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah or Wyoming is eligible to apply.

RM-URISA will issue three awards in 2019  depending on the student's  level of study.

  • PhD Candidates: $500
  • Graduate Students: $500
  • Undergraduate: $500 (Degree seeking 4-year or 2-year students with GIS certificate)

Awards will be announced on GIS Day, November 13, 2019.

RM-URISA requires the following documents for this award:

1)      Proof of current enrollment

2)      Current transcript (unofficial is acceptable)

3)      Description of your GIS-related project (1-3 pages)


We will be using a google forms document to submit this years scholarship information. We will have this form up shortly and you will be able to access this from the website.

The form will include some of the following information:

*  Working title

*  Contact information

*  Project goals

*  Description and map of the geographic region of the study

*  Methodologies and technology to be used, and

*  Reasons why you should receive this award

The deadline for all submissions is no later than October 31, 2019 at 5:00 pm MST.

The board of directors of Rocky Mountain URISA will judge submissions based on the merit and relevancy of the project, and/or the number of people served by the award.  Recipients of the scholarships will be announced at the GIS in the Rockies Conference.   Recipients will be notified by email prior to the conference.  Members of the boards of the five GISITR societies are not eligible to apply.   We look forward to your submissions, Rocky Mountain URISA.
